Decorating Easter Eggs is a family tradition that I have enjoyed longer than I would like to admit. Sitting around, dipping hardboiled eggs into a colorful vinegar swimming pool. It’s great! However, now that I am older, and not living with anyone under the age of 8, I need to up my egg decorating game. Like I’m thinking really out of the box, have you been on Pinterest lately??!
I have three different option if you also want to up your egg decorating game. Invite some of your friends over for brunch and casually have your nice, new, modern eggs just there. They will love them.
To start off simple I just took a gold marker and drew on the egg. Pretty simple! I felt that this would give the brown eggs a little love as well.
The next round, I took a couple eggs and let them soak in the dye. I wanted these to be bright enough to see, but not too dark that you wouldn’t be able to do anything later. Next, I put some food coloring in some rice, and placed the egg inside. The dye will then coat the egg with an interesting pattern.
#rookietip: you can also try peanuts, almonds, lentils, anything to get different shapes!
For the last couple eggs, I was feeling daring and may have bitten off more than I could chew. I wanted to give these eggs the water color affect so I decided to paint blobs onto the eggs and then later draw in the details. This was a great idea, however this dye was soooo light! It too way more coats than I would like to admit, and I highly suggest that you use food coloring with just a little water. Wayyyyy easier!
What different ways are you decorating for the holiday?
