Intro to Hand Lettering Workshop

Rookie Party is in Portland!

On March 8th I was so, so happy to host my first DIY event in Portland Maine. I was able to spend one of my favorite holidays; International Women’s Day with a bunch of creative, daring, and wonderful individuals.

With the official Portland kick off of Rookie Party, I knew I HAD to host it at one of my all time favorite spots in Portland; Maine Craft Distilling. When I would visit Portland before moving here, I always had to stop by and have one of their specially crafted cocktails. They are unreal, and not to mention their location is an interior designers dream. It is beautiful and has the perfect back room filled with liquor barrels, a long wooden table and a beautiful wall created by using glass bottles.

For those of you new to Rookie Party’s DIY Nights, all supplies, and a cocktail are included in your ticket price. This means, ALL supplies. No matter the project, I provide it all. The only thing you need to bring is an ID, AND you get to take all the supplies home!

For the Intro to Hand Lettering Workshop, I was able to walk everyone through the basics of hand lettering, and then give them time to find their own unique style while guiding when needed & answering any questions. Each person had their own hand lettering kit to work from and then at the end of the night they could take it home to continue practicing. I always put an emphasis on practice, especially with hand lettering! It’s a new skill, using new muscle- you need to practice for it to feel natural.

I loved hosting everyone, and CANNOT wait for my next workshop at Goodfire Brewery on April 6th where we will be going over the basics of hand lettering and how to use a chalkboard as a medium. Eek, so excited! If you are interested you can follow this link for tickets! All supplies included and a nice cold beer!

Can’t wait to continue to share the new exciting plans for Rookie Party in Portland!
